Role Summary
This Data Engineer provides technical leadership and engineering guidance to software delivery teams within the Software Engineering Centre of Excellence. The role involves overseeing solution design, ensuring architectural consistency, maintaining development best practices, and managing technical delivery processes. Collaboration with architects, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, developers, QA, DevOps, and business stakeholders is key to delivering secure, reliable, and scalable software aligned with business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor software engineering teams in designing, developing, and delivering enterprise-level solutions.
- Offer technical oversight across multiple agile squads and uphold engineering best practices.
- Drive architectural alignment and make critical technical decisions for projects and platforms.
- Partner with architects, Product Owners, and stakeholders to capture technical requirements and delivery strategies.
- Enforce engineering standards, coding quality, security controls, and testing protocols uniformly.
- Facilitate sprint planning, effort estimation, roadmap development, and ensure efficient delivery.
- Review and authorize technical designs, code quality, and implementation approaches.
- Detect and mitigate technical risks, manage dependencies, and resolve delivery impediments.
- Support DevOps processes including CI/CD, automation, and cloud-based engineering practices.
- Coach developers to enhance skill levels and maturity within the engineering teams.
- Champion continuous improvement within the Software Engineering CoE.
- Assist with production stability, operational readiness, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting.
- Contribute reusable engineering components, frameworks, and standards.
- Collaborate in governance and reporting with Business Operations and Delivery leadership.
- Assess and recommend new technologies, tools, and engineering methodologies.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related discipline preferred.
- 4 to 6 years of experience in software engineering and application development settings.
- Extensive knowledge of enterprise application architecture, system integration, API development, and modern software engineering techniques.
- Experience with cloud platforms, DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile methodologies.
- Background in distributed system design, microservices architecture, and scalable applications.
- Comprehensive understanding of the full software development lifecycle.
- Technical certifications relevant to the field are beneficial.
