About Cisco's Data Security Team
Cisco’s Data Security division is forward-thinking and committed to advancing large-scale data protection, governance, and security analytics. Operating within complex cloud and SaaS environments, this team ensures the protection and integrity of Cisco’s worldwide data through innovation and excellence in operations.
Role Impact and Responsibilities
In the role of Data Security Analyst, you will convert intricate security telemetry data into meaningful risk insights to enhance governance and lower enterprise risks. Your contributions will span cloud, SaaS, endpoint, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) domains, tackling complex security analytics challenges in sizable environments. Key duties include:
- Evaluating enterprise-level security telemetry from diverse platforms including cloud, SaaS, endpoint, DLP, DSPM, and SIEM systems to spot data security risks, detect trends, and uncover operational weaknesses.
- Creating executive-level reports conveying risk status, progress on remediation efforts, and effectiveness of governance.
- Collaborating closely with security engineers, architects, and operational teams to enhance visibility, data telemetry quality, and remediation success.
- Supporting initiatives related to data governance, analyzing risk exceptions, and developing robust security metrics and risk indicators.
- Developing automation and modernization solutions such as workflow orchestration and AI-assisted operations to increase efficiency and address emerging risks.
Candidate Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
- More than 4 years of experience in cybersecurity, security analytics, cloud security, or related technical risk areas.
- Experience working within large-scale, enterprise, or extensively distributed environments.
- Proficiency in analyzing security telemetry with SQL and using SIEM platforms or security data lakes.
- Ability to build dashboards and create operational and executive-level reports utilizing tools like Power BI.
- Skill in translating complex technical findings into actionable business risk insights for stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
Preferred qualifications:
- Industry certifications such as Security+ or other relevant cloud security credentials.
- Hands-on experience with telemetry related to DLP, DSPM/security posture management, and endpoint analysis.
- Competence in automation and analytics using workflow orchestration, API integrations, and scripting languages such as Python.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Defender, or graph database technology.
- Experience with AI governance, AI risk metrics, large language model/data exposure concepts, and insider risk analysis or supporting security operations workflows.
Additional Information - Location and Hiring Process

Compensation and Benefits
The starting salary range for this role in the U.S. and Canada is between $93,500 and $125,500 annually, excluding bonuses, equity, or benefits. Actual pay is influenced by hiring location, skills, experience, education, certifications, and training. Some specific location salary ranges are higher (e.g., New York City Metro area offers up to $173,500).
