Position Summary

The University of Kansas Department of Curriculum & Teaching is seeking qualified individuals for a part-time, temporary instructor pool. Selected instructors will teach undergraduate and master’s level courses in various subjects within the department. Course loads will vary based on demand and departmental needs. Role Details

The instructor role is adjunct and non-tenure-track with appointments for the Fall 2026 semester. Renewals depend on unit needs, funding availability, and satisfactory performance, not exceeding two consecutive semesters. This role is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with United Academics, but membership in the union is voluntary due to Kansas’s right-to-work laws. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. prior to their start date.

Job Responsibilities

  • Deliver instruction in a variety of courses such as Curriculum Development, Instructional Strategies, English Education, Foreign Language Education, Literacy/Reading Education, Mathematics Education, Science Education, Social Studies Education, Teaching English as a Second Language, and Gifted Education.
  • Create and manage course materials including syllabi, lectures, assignments, and assessments.
  • Evaluate student work and provide academic advising and office hours.
  • Collaborate with faculty colleagues and maintain currency in the teaching field.
  • Comply with all relevant department, school/college, and university policies.

Required Qualifications

  • A master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction or a related field is mandatory to teach undergraduate classes.
  • Doctoral degree in Curriculum & Instruction or an appropriate field is required to teach graduate-level courses.
  • Availability during standard K-12 work hours is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching at the college level or relevant K-12 teaching experience.
  • Doctoral degree in Education with a focus on Curriculum & Instruction preferred.
