Job description
About Fuse Energy
Fuse Energy is an innovative renewable energy startup committed to rapidly delivering a terawatt of renewable energy. The company integrates first-principles thinking with advanced technology to create an improved energy system. Backed by over $210 million from leading investors and strategic angels, Fuse operates as a fully integrated energy business involved in solar, wind, battery projects, real-time power trading, and distributed energy installations. By selling energy directly to consumers, it eliminates intermediaries, reduces costs, and passes savings to customers.
Role Impact and Responsibilities
This role has a significant and direct influence on Fuse's profit and loss statement. Every decision made about costs directly affects the company's margin, with no layers buffering the impact. Cost control is a primary focus, and the analyst will be embedded in the function from the outset, handling aspects from supplier invoices to settlement and contract management.
- Own cost categories tied directly to the P&L, with visible impact on reported margins
- Reconcile supplier invoices against contracts and purchase terms, identifying discrepancies before financial losses occur
- Develop and maintain real-time cost tracking tools to identify issues promptly
- Verify settlement and regulatory energy market charges against internal records, highlighting any variances
- Investigate cost lines, contracts, and vendor relationships to uncover savings opportunities backed by thorough analysis
- Prepare cost and usage data to support supplier and partner negotiations
- Automate routine and manual cost tracking tasks to focus team efforts on decision-making rather than data entry
Candidate Requirements
- Exceptional ability to apply first-principles thinking to understand and challenge the existence of costs
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and high-pressure startup environment
- Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving discrepancies
- Advanced skills in Excel and financial modeling
- Strong interest in cost management, procurement, or operational finance functions
Desirable Qualifications
- Previous internship or experience in banking, consulting, accounting, procurement, or startup finance teams
- Familiarity with contract or invoice reconciliation, vendor relations, or process automation
- Programming knowledge in Python, SQL, or similar languages for developing cost tracking solutions
Benefits
- Competitive salary package
- Fully funded technology equipment to support your work
- Breakfast and dinner allowances for employees working onsite
- Prospects for rapid career advancement
- Opportunity to work with a fast-growing, well-funded energy company tackling meaningful challenges with significant autonomy and ownership alongside a highly capable, first-principles driven team
