About the Role

The New York City Police Department aims to improve residents' quality of life by collaborating with the community to enforce laws, sustain peace, protect individuals, alleviate fear, and uphold public order. The Department focuses on both crime deterrence and maintaining quality-of-life through strategic allocation of resources and nurturing lasting community connections.

The Office of Management Analysis and Planning (OMAP) supports this mission by evaluating Departmental policies and resource use to advise the Police Commissioner on maximizing operational efficiency. OMAP is composed of uniformed and civilian members with diverse academic and professional backgrounds, leading research to enhance Department effectiveness via personnel deployment, resource management, pilot initiatives, policy formulation, and briefing development on legislative and procedural concerns.

Position Overview

The Data Analysis and Mapping Section within OMAP is seeking a dedicated Community Associate. This role involves overseeing the Department’s adherence to various CALEA accreditation standards, coordinating with the assigned accreditation manager to identify and address discrepancies. The Community Associate will collaborate with multiple stakeholders to gather and organize information to ensure compliance with over 160 standards. Success in this position demands advanced organizational and personnel management skills.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of high school or an equivalent qualification plus a minimum of three years experience in community-related work or activities aligned with the responsibilities described; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience meeting the above criteria.

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. City employees who have served continuously for two years may be eligible to reside in specific neighboring counties. This requirement will be clarified during the interview process.
