About the Role
Orion Group Life Sciences is seeking a Communications Lead for a multinational biopharmaceutical client based in Dublin. This position starts as a 6-month contract with potential extension and involves a hybrid working schedule: three days onsite (Tuesday to Thursday).
The Communications Lead will oversee both internal and external communications within the Commercial Affiliate, collaborating closely with the General Manager. The role entails advising leadership on reputational risks linked to business decisions and representing the company as a spokesperson while nurturing relationships with critical stakeholders. Attendance at AMT meetings for advice and counsel will also be part of the responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and implement an annual strategic communications plan to enhance corporate reputation within Ireland, focusing on local communities.
- Ensure all communications uphold brand consistency and align with company values.
- Advocate for innovation to benefit patients across therapeutic areas.
- Enhance the company's reputation, influence local healthcare policy, and promote awareness of priority diseases.
- Develop healthcare and industry materials such as marketing and PR campaigns, press releases, executive speeches, influencer communications, and position papers.
- Serve as primary media contact, managing inquiries and fostering media relations to educate on company priorities.
- Design and execute media engagement strategies for the General Manager and affiliate leadership, including preparing communication materials like press releases, videos, speeches, and social media content.
- Collect stakeholder insights to shape objectives and business decisions.
- Handle media crisis management related to the affiliate and assist with all-Ireland crisis communications as necessary.
- Collaborate with Brand Teams to develop communications strategies supporting commercial goals including activation campaigns and awareness efforts.
- Leverage social media channels to boost company reputation and encourage AMT member engagement.
- Monitor the communications landscape and gather stakeholder feedback for strategic planning and decision support.
- Advise brand teams and colleagues on strategic communication opportunities to support business aims.
- Prepare internal stakeholders for media appearances and disseminate all internal communications.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum 10 years of experience in communications, ideally within the healthcare sector.
- Strong familiarity with the local healthcare environment is preferred.
- Proven expertise in managing complex communication programs involving multiple stakeholders.
- Experienced in strategizing for traditional and social media platforms.
- Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams.
- Ability to cultivate internal and external relationships to ensure effective information flow.
- Skilled in creating compelling content across diverse media formats.
- Experienced in establishing and maintaining media and organizational stakeholder relations to enhance company reputation locally and nationally.
- Active collaboration with Brand Teams to achieve business objectives.
- Strategic thinker with strong crisis and issue communication management capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication proficiency.
- Strong influencing and networking skills to build productive colleague relations.
- Understanding of macro media influences and landscape.
- Self-motivated and proactive.
- Experience in designing patient-centric programs is a plus.
- Degree or Master’s in Communications preferred.
