Role Summary
As the Commercial Manager for India, you will spearhead in-market sales efforts aimed at increasing passenger and ancillary revenue, while safeguarding margins and cost efficiency. Your main focus will be implementing the India Country Sales Plan through strategic account development, proactive trade engagement, rigorous pipeline management, and targeted commercial initiatives. Collaboration with Revenue Management, Marketing, Finance, Global Sales, and regional teams is key to translating strategy into actionable local goals aligned with route, cabin mix, and growth targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive execution of the India Country Sales Plan to meet passenger and ancillary revenue goals.
- Establish and nurture strategic relationships with agencies, corporate clients, and trade partners to position Virgin Atlantic as the preferred long-haul airline.
- Administer pipeline, forecast, and account performance utilizing Salesforce (SFDC) to identify risks, opportunities, and next steps.
- Collaborate with Revenue Management and Marketing to develop pricing, promotions, tactical incentives, and campaigns that yield robust commercial results.
- Enhance channel mix across direct, indirect, and partnership sales while monitoring competitor activities and market trends.
- Lead, mentor, and support the sales team by setting clear objectives, conducting regular performance discussions, and fostering a culture of ownership, inclusivity, and ongoing enhancement.
Candidate Profile
- Proven commercial confidence coupled with inclusive leadership skills, adept at transforming strategy into effective actions while inspiring team cohesion.
- Substantial sales experience, preferably within the travel, aviation, or comparable fast-paced commercial sectors.
- Strong leadership capabilities with experience in coaching and developing team members to build their confidence, skills, and focus on performance.
- Ability to cultivate trusted relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders, negotiating effectively to protect value and sustain long-term partnerships.
- Proficient in analyzing data, forecasts, and commercial insights to inform decisions, optimize performance, and control cost of sale judiciously.
- Excellent communication skills that adapt to diverse audiences, maintaining composure, collaboration, and concentration on shared objectives.
