Role Overview

The Clinical Data Manager will spearhead efforts to enhance Novellia's data curation and delivery workflows. This position entails collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to optimize and expand data extraction processes, assess the feasibility of extracting variables from unstructured electronic health records (EHR), formulate data curation guidelines, implement and manage quality assurance and control protocols, and contribute to integrating payor data with existing EHR datasets.

This role demands adaptability, a commitment to quality, and strong accountability in fast-paced, high-impact scenarios. Candidates should be comfortable navigating ambiguity and creatively addressing complex problems with a client-centered approach.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft and refine data curation guidelines across multiple disease areas such as rare diseases, oncology, and cardiovascular conditions.
• Advance and optimize the application of large language model (LLM)-enabled curation techniques.
• Explore and validate methods for extracting specific information from unstructured EHR documents.
• Lead data quality assurance activities, including error identification, investigation, and establishing standard operating procedures for QA/QC.
• Work collaboratively with technical and clinical teams—software engineers, data scientists, client managers, and research scientists—to align data processes with client requirements and support data analytics.
• Provide subject matter expertise for processing and standardizing structured clinical data.
• Engage with clinical experts to ensure curation and QA processes adhere to clinical standards and expectations.
• Participate in client meetings to explain Novellia's data curation methodologies as needed.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor's or master's degree in health sciences, biology, public health, nursing, or related applied sciences.
• Experience handling clinical data with an enthusiasm to develop expertise in diverse therapeutic areas including rare diseases, oncology, and cardiovascular disease.
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems, electronic data capture tools, or other clinical data management platforms.
• Strong communication abilities for effectively discussing clinical topics with interdisciplinary teams possessing varied clinical backgrounds.
• Exceptional attention to detail paired with pragmatic problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working in a dynamic, international, cross-functional environment and managing ambiguity flexibly.
• Keen interest in large language models and practical experience applying them to data processing tasks.
• Preferred: proficiency in SQL for data interrogation.

Compensation range: $115,000 - $145,000 per year.
