About Resident Advisor
Established in 2001, Resident Advisor (RA) is a leading global music media brand and a key player within the dance, electronic, and DJ culture. Attracting more than 7 million monthly users, RA offers a combination of news, editorial content, club and event listings, ticketing services, RA-branded events at festivals and venues worldwide, original films, and a long-running weekly mix series spanning two decades.
Role Purpose
The City Manager is a pivotal member of RA's Global Content Network (GCN) and serves as the localized representative for Perth. This role entails supporting Perth's electronic music scene by ensuring RA's local content is accurate, up-to-date, and engaging across event, artist, venue, and promoter listings. The City Manager also contributes editorial insights to showcase the local culture and narratives effectively.
The goal is to make RA the trusted source for finding the best electronic music events and understanding the key artists, venues, and promoters in Perth. The City Manager acts as RA’s on-the-ground liaison to curate the city's profile on the platform, customizing the coverage to reflect Perth’s unique scene. The role's responsibilities and scope are reviewed biannually to stay aligned with the evolving community needs.
Position Details
- Location: Perth, Western Australia
- Contract Type: Freelance consultant (independent contractor)
- Duration: 12 months with potential renewal upon agreement
- Time Commitment: Baseline of 20 hours per month, with an option to extend up to 40 hours monthly based on agreed priorities
- Compensation: AUD $620 monthly for baseline hours plus applicable superannuation contributions at 12%, payable to the contractor's nominated fund; additional commissions negotiated separately
Core Responsibilities
- Maintain the accuracy and currency of RA's event, venue, and artist listings for Perth to ensure user trust and engagement
- Develop strong editorial content by identifying and proposing notable local events, personalities, and stories for RA formats such as RA Picks, Local News, This Week's New Music, Mix of the Day, and Socials
- Engage actively with the local electronic music scene, acting as a visible point of contact and providing ongoing updates to RA’s network and management
- Identify and communicate potential commercial ticketing opportunities to RA’s revenue team, facilitating relevant partnerships
Additional Responsibilities
- Support promoters and venues in leveraging RA tools, focusing on developing and maintaining key local relationships
- Assist with outreach and introduction activities around commercial opportunities to ensure smooth transitions
- Execute optional tasks as agreed, such as supporting adjacent cities, translations, news production, or event support

- Personable and outgoing, with the ability to establish connections rapidly
- Proven skill in clear and effective communication across both personal and digital channels
- Passionate about and knowledgeable of electronic music culture

- Fluent in English and a local language pertinent to the role’s requirements
