Role Overview

VAP Group is hiring a Chief Editor to lead Times of Blockchain and oversee the editorial direction of its Global Blockchain Show agenda. This is a full-time leadership role based in a hybrid Dubai setup.

What You Will Lead

• Shape and continuously improve the publication’s editorial vision, tone, and content approach so it matches audience expectations and market positioning.
• Take the final editorial call on major stories, investigative pieces, exclusives, and any content that carries legal, reputational, or ethical sensitivity.
• Establish and uphold the editorial policy, keeping editorial coverage clearly separate from sponsored content, press releases, and advertising.
• Provide end-to-end oversight of the Global Blockchain Show event agenda.
• Build and guide a strong newsroom by hiring, mentoring, and managing the Managing Editor and senior editorial team members.
• Own the content plan for the year and quarter, balancing breaking news, evergreen resources, market analysis, and thought leadership pieces.
• Represent the publication in public-facing settings such as media appearances, panels, and partnerships with events and industry stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain relationships with PR agencies, exchanges, studios, and other relevant vendors or partners in the vertical.
• Manage crisis response and correction workflows to ensure accuracy, proper sourcing, and fast updates when errors occur.
• Work with SEO, growth, and revenue teams to support traffic and engagement goals while protecting editorial independence.
• Track industry developments, competitor activity, and audience behavior to identify new coverage opportunities and content formats such as video, newsletters, and social media.
• Approve editorial hiring decisions, freelancer and contributor agreements, and editorial budget allocation.

Experience And Requirements

• At least 8 years of experience in journalism or editorial work, including 3 or more years in a senior leadership position such as Editor-in-Chief, Chief Editor, or a similar role.
• A demonstrated history of launching, building, or scaling a digital news publication, preferably in a fast-changing, technical, or niche subject area.
• Strong editorial judgment, high ethical standards, and deep familiarity with AP or house style, fact-checking, and source verification.
• Proven ability to lead people, including distributed teams and freelance contributor networks.
• Strong written and spoken communication skills, with confidence in representing the brand publicly.
• Practical understanding of WordPress publishing workflows, SEO basics, and content analytics tools.
• Previous senior-level editorial experience covering the same or a closely related vertical is preferred.
• An established network of industry contacts, spokespeople, and press relationships relevant to the beat is preferred.
• Experience handling media partnerships with conferences and industry events is preferred.
• Familiarity with disclosure rules for sponsored content, press releases, and paid editorial coverage is preferred.

Success Measures

• Editorial quality, including accuracy, correction turnaround time, and compliance with editorial policy.
• Audience growth, including organic traffic, repeat readership, and newsletter subscriber expansion.
• Team performance, including retention of senior staff, consistent output, and fast breaking-news coverage.
• Brand strength, measured by media mentions, secured event partnerships, and recognition in the industry.
