Role Overview
SBH Fashion is seeking a seasoned Buyer to oversee its premier product category—Dresses—in Utah. This pivotal position involves managing the entire strategy, development, assortment, and sales performance of the dress category while working closely with suppliers and internal teams to craft a distinctive dress collection that boosts sales and enhances brand presence.
Responsibilities
- Lead the comprehensive buying strategy for the Dresses category, recognized as the largest and most vital segment of the business.
- Curate seasonal dress assortments balancing current trends, consumer needs, profitability, and brand identity.
- Analyze sales data, customer feedback, and market trends to guide buying choices effectively.
- Collaborate with vendors to create exclusive styles and maximize category success.
- Shape dress category composition by managing the mix of silhouettes, lengths, fabrics, prints, occasions, and pricing tiers.
- Drive discussions regarding garment construction, fit, materials, and design details to ensure product excellence.
- Spot and interpret emerging trends, converting them into commercially viable product offerings.
- Work cross-functionally with merchandising, planning, design, marketing, and senior leadership teams.
- Maintain strong vendor relationships and conduct negotiations to advance category expansion.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in women’s apparel buying, focusing primarily on dresses.
- In-depth knowledge of garment construction, fabric types, print patterns, fit, and silhouette innovation.
- Track record of developing and scaling a high-volume apparel category.
- Excellent product intuition complemented by data-driven decision-making abilities.
- Experience engaging directly with vendors on product development and category planning.
- Ability to actively influence product creation beyond selecting from existing options.
- Strong commercial understanding including consumer preferences and market dynamics.
- A cooperative team player who excels in fast-paced retail settings.
Salary
The compensation range for this role is $90,000 to $150,000 per year.
