Business Data Analyst - Banking Sector

About the Company

Our client is a renowned global financial institution with significant operations in banking, securities, and financial markets. They are seeking a Banking Data Analyst to collaborate directly with business teams to understand reporting requirements, analyze data, and deliver actionable insights that drive business decisions.

Primary Responsibilities

• Engage closely with stakeholders across banking and securities departments to gather reporting needs and translate them into data-driven deliverables.
• Analyze business datasets to detect trends, identify gaps and risks, and explore opportunities to inform decision-making.
• Create, manage, and update dashboards, reports, and visualizations utilizing tools like Tableau and Power BI.
• Extract, validate, and interpret data from internal systems using SQL queries.
• Communicate data insights clearly and effectively to non-technical audiences, ensuring relevance to business context.
• Provide ongoing support for business reporting, monitor KPIs, and analyze operational data.
• Coordinate with technology, data teams, and business units to ensure accurate delivery of reporting requirements.
• Conduct rigorous data quality checks and reconciliation to uphold report reliability.
• Maintain documentation detailing business requirements, logic behind reports, data definitions, and analysis results.
• Enhance efficiency and user experience by improving existing reporting processes, dashboards, and workflows.

Candidate Profile

• Between 4 to 7 years of experience as a Data Analyst, Business Data Analyst, Reporting Analyst, or in similar roles within banking, securities, financial services, or regulated sectors.
• Proven ability to interface with business users, communicate requirements and insights clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Proficient with Tableau and/or Power BI in dashboard creation, reporting, and visualization.
• Solid working knowledge of SQL for data manipulation and analysis.
• Understanding of banking products, securities, finance, operations, risk, or regulatory reporting is a plus.
• Natural aptitude to convert business demands into precise data analyses and effective reporting tools.
• Strong communication, presentation capabilities, and stakeholder relationship management skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills and comfort handling large volumes of data.
• Effective problem-solving skills, able to present insights in straightforward, organized formats.
• Experience with Python for data analytics or automation is advantageous but not required.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-moving banking environment with multiple stakeholders and variable priorities.
