About CanInspire
Established in 2011, CanInspire is a national charity operating throughout New Zealand that facilitates free therapeutic beading workshops. These sessions offer safe, welcoming environments for individuals facing illness, trauma, or loss to connect, be creative, and find healing. Our collaborations with healthcare providers, hospices, cancer support organizations, and community partners serve hundreds of participants annually, bringing them wellbeing, connection, and hope through creativity.
Role Overview
We are inviting dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers to join the CanInspire Board of Trustees to help steer the charity's future direction. As CanInspire marks 15 years of service, this is an opportunity to contribute to the sustainability and growth of an established national charity supporting Kiwis through creativity.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and governance to ensure CanInspire remains sustainable and well-managed.
- Attend monthly Board meetings and prepare by reviewing associated papers and reports.
- Engage in email communications between meetings.
- Optionally, contribute expertise to special projects, fundraising, or organizational development activities.
Desired Expertise
We welcome diverse applicants, particularly those with experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Fundraising strategy development and donor/community engagement.
- Grant identification and application preparation.
- Corporate partnerships and sponsorship acquisition.
- Marketing and communications to enhance public awareness and profile.
- Financial oversight including accounting, budgeting, and auditing.
- Governance, risk management, legal compliance, and other governance functions.
While prior Board experience is advantageous, it is not mandatory. We seek individuals committed to collaboration, sound governance, and supporting CanInspire's mission and sustainability.
Board Commitment
- Minimum of approximately four hours per month, including monthly meetings and regular communications.
