About the Role
At Aruma, we are dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities to lead fulfilling lives. We are currently seeking a compassionate Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our team in Shoalhaven Heads, NSW. This permanent full-time role involves developing and executing positive behaviour support plans aimed at improving the quality of life for people with disabilities. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and engage closely with individuals, families, and carers to foster independence, inclusion, and dignity.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and implement evidence-based behaviour support strategies tailored to individual needs.
- Engage with individuals, their families, carers, and other professionals to provide holistic, person-centered support.
- Offer training and guidance to support staff to ensure consistency in applying behaviour support approaches.
- Regularly evaluate and update support plans in response to progress and changing needs.
- Act as an advocate to uphold the rights and dignity of individuals, treating them with respect and kindness.
Candidate Profile
- Deep commitment to positively impacting the lives of people with disabilities.
- Educational background in psychology, social work, or related fields.
- Knowledge and experience with positive behaviour support frameworks and methodologies.
- Requirement to complete a self-assessment for NDIS Behaviour Support Practitioner registration or submit applicable entry-level practitioner declarations and relevant evidence such as behaviour management or wellness plans.
- Ability to remain calm and effective when managing complex behaviours.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
