Barista / FOH

About the opportunity

A new Columbus Cafe has opened at the new MEGA Pāpāmoa, and the team is hiring two full-time Barista / FOH team members. This is a chance to join a lively, customer-focused café environment where energy, personality, and teamwork matter every day.

The role follows either a Sunday/Monday or Saturday/Monday pattern and sits within a 40-hour work week. You will work five days across a seven-day roster, including one weekend day. Shift times can vary between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm.

The café is locally owned and known for its strong standards around quality, service, and atmosphere. It offers daytime work only, a supportive team culture, and ongoing learning opportunities.

What the role involves

• Preparing coffee and handling front-of-house duties in a busy café setting
• Serving customers with confidence, warmth, and strong communication
• Working at pace while keeping drink quality and consistency high
• Following the café’s preferred coffee-making approach and procedures
• Keeping presentation, portions, food safety, and hygiene standards at a high level
• Staying organised, calm, and efficient during busy periods
• Contributing to a positive, hard-working, and high-energy team environment

What we are looking for

• Previous experience as a barista in a busy café
• Experience working in a high-volume hospitality environment
• Strong café service and customer interaction skills
• Genuine interest in coffee and a willingness to learn new methods
• Ability to speak with customers easily and naturally
• Excellent attention to detail, including presentation and portion control
• Reliability, punctuality, speed, and consistency
• Ability to stay composed and communicate clearly under pressure
• A positive attitude and readiness to work hard every day
