Role Overview

We are in search of a Backend Engineer with at least four years of experience to play a pivotal role in developing and enhancing our technology systems. You will be accountable for designing scalable APIs and platform services while collaborating closely with diverse teams to advance customer-focused solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and enhance platform services and booking systems integral to our operations.
Architect, build, and maintain a resilient transactional API platform accessible by internal teams and external partners.
Incorporate current AI-assisted development methodologies to optimize routine development tasks.
Engage actively in code review and pair programming exercises to ensure code quality.
Improve an existing codebase serving thousands of users daily with an emphasis on stability and performance.
Identify and resolve bugs and performance bottlenecks.

Qualifications and Experience

Proven expertise in developing web applications and distributed services over a minimum of four years.
Strong proficiency in PHP with object-oriented programming principles, relational database design, and data modeling.
Competence in writing, reading, and debugging SQL queries.
Familiarity with AI agents such as Claude or Codex, including discerning the practical application of AI tools amidst trends.
Experience navigating Linux and macOS command-line environments.
Knowledge of message queues and Elasticsearch is advantageous.
Excellent communication skills in English; proficiency in German is a plus.
Experience working in Agile team settings.
