Automotive Estimator

Job Overview

We are looking for a meticulous and customer-oriented Automotive Estimator to join our team at CSN Collision in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. This role involves evaluating vehicle damage, preparing precise repair estimates, coordinating with insurance providers, and keeping clients updated throughout the repair cycle. The ideal candidate will possess strong English communication skills, a solid understanding of collision repair terminology, and the ability to balance accuracy with timely delivery.

Core Responsibilities

• Prepare thorough and accurate repair estimates and supplements adhering to company and insurer standards.
• Capture clear, detailed photographs of vehicle damage while discussing the collision details with clients.
• Manage parts ordering, verify availability, and ensure correct vendor discounts are applied.
• Monitor vehicle repair progress, updating statuses in the production schedule accordingly.
• Assign labour tasks to technicians, optimizing efficiency and precision.
• Communicate proactively with customers about repair procedures, insurance claims, timelines, and methods.
• Collaborate daily with the front office team to maintain consistent and accurate information.
• Review and approve supplements prior to vehicle delivery.
• Ensure insurance supplements are properly scanned and linked within the estimating system.
• Confirm full labour assignments and receipt/invoicing of all parts.
• Conduct quality control inspections to guarantee repairs meet company quality standards before delivery.
• Deliver vehicles to customers, explain the completed repairs, and respond to their inquiries.
• Prepare and submit documentation necessary for final billing, ensuring notes and paperwork are complete.
• Carry out additional estimating and support duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Skills

• Excellent organizational abilities and strong attention to detail.
• Experience in collision auto body repair or vehicle damage estimating.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills in English are mandatory.
• Familiarity with insurance company protocols and documentation requirements.
• Experience using estimating software such as Mitchel Connect and Qapter.
• Knowledge of Client Dealer Management System tools like Bodyshop Connect.
• Capability to perform parts lookup and verification using Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN).
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment under fast-paced conditions.
• Experience estimating repairs for luxury or high-end vehicles is advantageous.
