Role Overview

The Automation Engineer based in Toronto, ON, will have a pivotal role in managing projects by overseeing scheduling, budgeting, and costs along with designing, programming, and commissioning automated systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and define client requirements for automated systems.
• Engineer automated systems, including selecting controls, instrumentation, motor controls, and designing control panels.
• Develop and program PLCs and user interfaces.
• Participate in system testing and commissioning phases.
• Lead factory automation projects, including planning, supervision, change management, and monitoring of budget, schedules, and resources involving manufacturers and contractors.
• Draft technical specifications, plans, and estimates.
• Collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary project teams.
• Maintain communication and coordination with equipment suppliers.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in automated production engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
• Registered Professional Engineer with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
• 3 to 5 years of industrial automation experience.
• Familiarity with Allen Bradley, Rockwell, and Siemens automation products.
• Experience in food and/or pharmaceutical sectors is an advantage.
• Willingness to undertake occasional client visits within the Greater Toronto Area.
