Job Overview

This role supports the enhancement and provision of psychological services within the bariatric surgery context at University Hospital Lewisham. Working under the guidance of the Lead Psychologist, the Assistant Psychologist will engage in patient screening and triage, utilizing psychometric tools and brief interviews. Additional responsibilities include facilitating patient support groups, developing clinical pathways, creating patient educational materials such as leaflets, conducting audits involving data collection and statistical analysis, and supporting day-to-day service operations.

Clinical Duties

  • Assist in psychological assessments by collecting data and analyzing self-report psychological measures.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of psychoeducational sessions and brief interventions under supervision.
  • Participate in designing and refining patient care pathways, including support groups, group therapies, and individual sessions.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to formulate psychological approaches tailored to the complex challenges faced by bariatric surgery patients and adjust plans accordingly.
