Job Overview
We are looking for a meticulous and strategic Costing Manager to join our finance and operations teams based in Kolkata. This role reports to the Head of Finance, CFO, or Operations Manager, and is responsible for overseeing all cost management activities related to our engineering manufacturing operations. The position demands proficiency in cost planning, detailed analysis, control, and reporting to assist with pricing strategies, project evaluation, and enhancing profit margins.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare precise cost estimates for various engineering projects and manufacturing processes.
- Develop and sustain standardized cost models for multiple products and operational processes.
- Collaborate with project teams to predict material, labour, and overhead costs accurately.
- Track and monitor project and operational expenditures, comparing actual expenses to budgets.
- Analyze cost variances and offer practical recommendations to project managers and finance leaders.
- Identify and propose cost-saving measures and process optimization strategies.
- Manage and evaluate inventory valuations and consumption patterns to ensure accurate product costing, including BOMs, routings, and labour rates, within ERP systems.
- Generate periodic cost and profitability reports segmented by project, product line, or department.
- Assist with financial audits by supplying necessary cost and inventory documentation.
- Maintain compliance with internal policies and applicable accounting standards.
- Work closely with engineering, procurement, production, and finance departments to deliver cost insights that inform pricing decisions and tender proposals.
- Engage in cross-departmental initiatives aimed at boosting overall cost efficiency.
