About the Role

This full-time role is based in Warrnambool, Victoria, within the Out of Home Care Program. It supports the creation of a safe, steady, and therapeutic living environment for young people. When the House Supervisor is unavailable, you will take on the leadership role, guiding the residential care team and helping maintain day-to-day oversight. The position reports to the Residential House Supervisor and involves close collaboration with the House Supervisor and Residential Care Coordinator to deliver consistent, high-quality care.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Step into a leadership capacity when the House Supervisor is away.
  • Provide guidance, support, and direction to the residential care team.
  • Help maintain a stable and therapeutic home environment for young people.
  • Work alongside the House Supervisor and Residential Care Coordinator to ensure quality care delivery.

What We’re Looking For

  • Either leadership experience from another sector or solid residential care experience with the intention to move into leadership.
  • A Diploma in Community Services, Social Work, or another closely related field.
  • Proven background and understanding of the residential care sector.
  • Awareness of Aboriginal culture and values, and an understanding of the challenges facing Aboriginal children, young people, and families.
  • The capacity to form strong, supportive relationships with young people who may have trauma-related experiences and complex needs.
  • Ability to develop or apply behaviour support approaches for children and adolescents.

Our Offer

  • Pay is aligned to SCHADS Award Level 4 and will depend on your qualification and experience.
  • Salary packaging support is available, with access to up to $18,550 per year to help reduce tax.
  • Discounted Fitness Passport access for you and your family.
  • Paid, role-specific training, including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), Sanctuary, and Cultural Awareness training.
  • Access to an Employee Assistance Program offering counselling, coaching, and health guidance, including nutrition support.
  • The organisation operates under the Sanctuary Model, an evidence-informed framework focused on safety, coping, and healing.

Mandatory Requirements

  • A valid driver’s licence.
  • A satisfactory criminal history check, paid for by MacKillop.
  • A current Employee Working with Children Check.
  • A current NDIS Worker Screening Check for risk-assessed/client-facing roles; successful candidates may receive assistance with the application.
  • First aid certification with at least 6 months of validity remaining.
