AI Design Leader

Role overview

Good Maven is hiring a technically strong product leader to take charge of AI Design at Fin (formerly Intercom). This role sits at the heart of Fin’s AI Group, where the company’s proprietary models and core product capabilities are built. The position is based in Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland, with the wider team also working from London and Berlin.

Fin is positioned as a leading AI customer service agent, built as a full-stack, vertically integrated AI system with in-house models called Apex, purpose-built for customer experience use cases.

What the role is about

You will lead the design function inside the AI Group and manage a team of three senior AI designers at Staff/Principal level. You will collaborate closely with AI engineers, scientists, product designers, and R&D teams to shape how Fin’s AI models and harness work in practice.

This is a new kind of leadership role that blends product judgment, technical depth, and design leadership. The focus goes beyond interface design to include model behavior, evaluation methods, and the feedback loops that help the system improve over time.

What you will work on

In this role, you will help define how Fin is built and improved. Your work will influence system behavior, quality measurement, and how model capabilities are translated into real product experiences. Some of the work will resemble product strategy, some will sit in design, and some will be closer to engineering or research.

AI depth

• You should be comfortable working at the AI layer, not only using AI tools or designing around them.
• You need to understand model behavior, evaluation and testing, and agent workflows.
• You do not need to have done everything end to end, but you should be able to discuss these topics confidently with engineers and scientists.
• Curiosity, experimentation, and a clear point of view on where AI is heading are important.

Product leadership

• You should care deeply about building excellent products.
• You may have led teams, built products from scratch, or shaped products used by real customers.
• You should be able to connect user needs, business objectives, and the practical limits and opportunities of the technology.
• You should be comfortable both setting direction at a high level and refining details at a hands-on level.

Mindset and values

• You should be self-directed and proactive, with a strong bias toward action.
• You should value quality in both appearance and functionality.
• You should be comfortable working quickly in ambiguous and changing environments.
• You should help raise standards for the people around you.

Who this could suit

The team is open to different backgrounds. You might be a product leader who has recently gone deep on AI, a design leader moving closer to systems and models, an engineer or researcher with strong product instincts, or a founder/builder working publicly on similar problems.

You may not have held a formal title such as Design Leader before. What matters more is how you think, how you learn, and how seriously you are engaging with the shift toward AI-native product building.

Interview process

The interview process is designed to be thorough, fast, and transparent. The company expects the full process to take no longer than four weeks from start to finish.

You will meet members of the AI Group as well as Product and Design leadership. The process is intended to help both sides understand the role, the problems being solved, and whether the company is the right fit for you.
