Accounts Payable Specialist | Qatarization

About the Role

We are looking for a meticulous and seasoned Accounts Payable Specialist, who is Qatari, to manage and supervise the accounts payable department. The role involves ensuring all payment processes and financial transactions are executed accurately, promptly, and comply with regulations. The candidate will lead the team, build robust vendor relations, and implement ongoing improvements in financial workflows and controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the complete accounts payable cycle to ensure invoices and liabilities are paid on time and correctly.
• Guide and develop the accounts payable team to meet departmental goals and service expectations.
• Authorize vendor payments, reconciliations, and payment planning in line with company policies and delegated authority levels.
• Ensure adherence to internal controls, applicable financial regulations, and accounting standards.
• Manage cash flow needs and assist with treasury planning functions.
• Foster strong partnerships with suppliers and internal parties, swiftly resolving payment issues.
• Direct month-end and year-end closing tasks related to accounts payable.
• Provide documentation and data to support audits, both internal and external.
• Spot and drive enhancements in processes to boost efficiency and fortify financial checks.
• Compile management reports, perform analyses, and generate performance indicators concerning accounts payable activities.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related disciplines.
• Preferred certifications include CPA, ACCA, CMA, or similar professional qualifications.
• At least five years of practical experience in finance and accounting roles.
• In-depth understanding of accounts payable processes, financial governance, and accounting rules.
• Familiarity with ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics or equivalents.
• Demonstrated leadership and ability to manage teams effectively.
• Strong skills in analysis, problem resolution, and organization.
• Excellent communication and ability to manage stakeholders efficiently.
• Proficient in English; knowledge of Arabic considered a plus.
