About the Role
This remote contract opportunity is with Mercor, a company that connects top creative and technical professionals with AI research teams. The organization is based in San Francisco and is backed by investors such as Benchmark, General Catalyst, Peter Thiel, Adam D'Angelo, Larry Summers, and Jack Dorsey.
Role Overview
The position focuses on accounting expertise and involves reviewing and comparing AI-produced answers to difficult accounting questions. You will assess how well each model responds, judge the quality of its reasoning, and give clear, written feedback to help improve future model performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Review two AI-generated responses to accounting-related problems and decide which is stronger.
- Use the supplied input materials to evaluate how each model arrives at its answer.
- Explain your judgment with reference to accuracy, compliance with accounting standards, and the strength of the reasoning shown.
- Provide written observations to support the research team in refining model outputs.
- Take part in onboarding and domain-specific calibration sessions.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of professional background in accounting, audit, or tax.
- A CPA or equivalent qualification is preferred, or a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
- Strong command of GAAP and/or IFRS, along with financial statement analysis.
- Excellent written communication skills and careful attention to detail.
Compensation and Schedule
The role pays $85 per hour. The expected workload is 10 to 20 hours each week.
Start Date
The position is intended to begin immediately, and applications are evaluated on a rolling basis.
Application Process
The application is expected to take around 20 to 30 minutes and includes three steps: uploading a resume, completing an AI interview based on that resume, and submitting the final form.
