Role Overview

This full-time, on-site position at Niagara College, Ontario, requires operating a 26Ft box truck to transport goods between distribution hubs, clients, and the campus. Key duties involve loading and unloading shipments, securing cargo properly, completing delivery paperwork, and maintaining communication with dispatch or supervisory staff on progress, delays, or issues. The driver will also conduct vehicle inspections before and after trips, comply with all road safety laws, and keep the truck clean and orderly. Interaction with customers and campus personnel, adherence to site-specific delivery protocols, and occasional assistance with warehouse or staging tasks are additional responsibilities.

Candidate Qualifications

• Possession of a valid commercial driver’s license suitable for a 26Ft box truck along with a clean driving record and solid knowledge of local and regional routes.
• Proven experience in safe operation of trucks, including vehicle inspections, cargo handling, and compliance with transportation regulations.
• Capability to perform physical duties such as lifting, carrying, loading/unloading shipments, and operating pallet jacks or similar tools.
• Strong time management skills to plan routes effectively, respect delivery schedules, and maintain accurate delivery documentation, including electronic records.
• Good communication and client service abilities to engage professionally and respectfully with dispatch, customers, and campus staff.
• Attention to detail and problem-solving aptitude to manage unexpected road conditions, changes to delivery schedules, or minor vehicle issues.
• Commitment to follow company policies, safety guidelines, and Niagara College protocols, emphasizing teamwork and responsibility.
• Previous experience with box trucks or commercial deliveries is preferred; familiarity with institutional or college delivery settings is advantageous.
