Role Overview

We are inviting applications for the position of Wind Service Technician, responsible for maintaining and servicing 62 wind turbines at the West Wind site near Wellington. These turbines generate renewable energy sufficient to power approximately 78,000 average New Zealand households. This position involves working as part of a diverse team, supporting electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical maintenance activities to ensure reliable turbine operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled maintenance and servicing on wind turbine electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical components following safety and operational protocols.
• Collaborate with team members, team leads, and site owners to meet maintenance objectives efficiently and safely.
• Participate in reactive maintenance and monitoring activities outside standard hours as part of a roster once trained.
• Engage in ongoing professional development through training on safety and technical competencies within the framework provided.
• Occasionally travel across New Zealand to meet business operational needs.

Candidate Requirements

• Registered electrician or holding an Electrical Service Technician (EST) qualification; additional skills in mechanical, hydraulic, or relevant trades such as marine, oil & gas, dairy, or heavy industry are advantageous.
• Experience with electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic fault diagnosis, including the ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams.
• Physically fit to work at heights up to 70 metres, capable of lifting loads up to 25 kg, and comfortable in confined spaces.
• Current valid driver's license.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and effective functioning within a small team environment.
• Prior experience in the wind energy industry and adaptability to diverse working conditions will be beneficial.
• Willingness to perform practical mechanical tasks as part of daily duties.

Working Conditions and Schedule

This is an on-site role based at the West Wind location approximately 30 minutes from Wellington CBD. The standard work schedule is Monday to Friday over a nine-day fortnight. After adequate training, reactive maintenance and monitoring duties outside regular hours may be required on a roster basis.
