Role Overview

The Electron team at Rocket Lab is focused on manufacturing, testing, and launching our Electron launch vehicle at facilities in the United States and New Zealand. The Vehicle Integration team installs avionics, mechanical parts, wiring harnesses, and high-voltage batteries onto the Electron rocket. Technicians possess both avionics and mechanical skills and collaborate extensively, performing a variety of tasks beyond their specific expertise. This hands-on role involves working with tools and equipment to build, test, and prepare launch vehicles, directly supporting the production and launch timelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Install avionic and mechanical components, wiring harnesses, and high-voltage battery systems on the Electron launch vehicle.
• Perform detailed assembly tasks with precision, including crimping, soldering, and wiring harness terminations.
• Maintain cleanliness and adhere to oxygen service standards during assembly processes.
• Follow exacting industry standards for electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection and workmanship.
• Inspect assemblies with a strong focus on quality and precision workmanship.
• Manufacture components to meet high standards of workmanship and reliability.

Required Qualifications

• Trade qualification relevant to the aerospace or related industry.
• Minimum of 4 years of pertinent industry experience.
• Expertise in precise avionics and mechanical assembly techniques.
• Proficiency in high precision crimping, soldering, and harness termination tasks.
• Ability to work to stringent cleanliness and oxygen service protocols.
• Solid understanding of standard industry electrostatic discharge (ESD) procedures.
• Excellent visual acuity for inspecting component quality and assembly workmanship.
