Role Overview

We are searching for an enthusiastic UI/UX Designer passionate about developing cutting-edge software. Our product is a sophisticated web-based interface utilized by operators to monitor and control multiple spacecraft constellations across active missions.

This is an early-career opportunity for someone eager to rapidly expand their skill set in a technically challenging environment. You will collaborate closely with experienced engineers and designers who will provide mentorship, constructive feedback, and foster your growth. Your responsibilities will include designing UI components, reimagining workflows, and working intimately with developers. Complex challenges await, and ample support will be provided to help you master them over time.

No prior space industry experience is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret customer and operator needs into clear, user-friendly designs.
• Develop wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes that align with and enhance the existing design system.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including designers, product managers, developers, and mission operators to refine requirements and incorporate feedback.
• Organize and maintain design files and document design choices.
• Participate actively in agile ceremonies like sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

• Between 1-2 years of UI/UX design experience including internships, academic, or personal projects.
• Proficient with Figma, skilled in components, auto-layout, and managing design system workflows.
• Experienced in creating wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes.
• Skilled at defining user flows and identifying usability bottlenecks.
• Demonstrated willingness to learn continuously and improve professionally.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills suitable for collaborative teamwork.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Proactive in seeking clarification when faced with unclear requirements.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance.

Portfolio Requirement

A portfolio showcasing UI/UX projects from previous work, internships, or academic endeavors is required.

Preferred Experience

• Designing applications with dark mode themes.
• Incorporating colorblind accessibility features.
• Understanding frontend development concepts such as component-based architecture and responsive design.
