UAS Commander (w/m/d)

About the Role

At the earliest possible date, we are looking for a UAS Commander (w/m/d) for DB Fahrwegdienste GmbH at the Berlin or Erfurt location.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee flight operations nationwide—whether onsite, via remotely controlled UAS, or from the control center—always ensuring full compliance with aviation regulations.
• Conduct safe flight missions along the Deutsche Bahn infrastructure.
• Ensure adherence to all applicable aviation laws during flight execution.
• Plan missions and perform pre-flight and post-flight checks.
• Guarantee comprehensive documentation of all required mission data.
• Register flights with all responsible authorities before and after missions.

Candidate Profile

• Possess initial flight experience in unmanned aviation (EU competency certificate A1 / A3, ideally A2 or STS).
• Preferably have experience in the aviation industry, knowledge of UAS legislation (e.g., LuftVG, LuftVO, EU drone regulations), or governmental approval procedures, with eagerness to actively shape Deutsche Bahn's drone aviation.
• Demonstrate teamwork skills, effective communication, and willingness to travel nationwide for assignments.
• Work responsibly, methodically, and meticulously with enthusiasm for understanding complex issues and developing suitable solutions.
• Proficient in common office software applications.
• Possess a valid driver's license for passenger vehicles.
