About the Role
RINA is looking for a Trainee Junior Surveyor to join their South Asia Pacific Marine Division office in Singapore. This position supports the commitment to maritime safety and regulatory compliance by assisting in ship and marine structure inspections and related documentation, under guidance from experienced surveyors.
Key Responsibilities
- Use professional knowledge of maritime rules and industry standards to assist in surveying activities.
- Perform routine inspections on classed vessels, platforms, and marine constructions, ensuring compliance with classification and statutory requirements under supervision.
- Document inspections with timely and technically accurate reports.
- Maintain organized survey records within assigned responsibilities.
- Stay informed about industry developments and update skills accordingly.
- Propose solutions to encountered challenges, consulting senior surveyors as needed.
- Work collaboratively within the team, contributing to quality assurance and effective operations.
- Interact with clients as directed, assisting in resolving technical issues.
- Engage actively in training programs to develop into a competent surveyor.
- Conduct all activities according to high ethical standards, ensuring integrity and fairness.
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Proficiency in English relevant to classification, certification, and related services.
- Capacity to understand RINA Rules, statutory regulations, employee safety policies, and shipbuilding principles.
- Ability to interpret engineering plans and knowledge of ship operations.
- Competence in performing new building surveys including material assessment, compliance checks, issuing certificates and reports.
- Skill in conducting in-service ship surveys identifying deficiencies, monitoring repairs, and endorsing certifications.
- Experience or knowledge in testing activities per applicable rules, issuing corresponding certificates, and preparing reports.
- Understanding of ship engineering systems, machinery, and related technical software tools.
