Role Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced Wagon Maintainer to join our Forrestfield, WA team on a casual basis. The role involves conducting detailed examinations and maintenance procedures on rail rolling stock, in line with established safety protocols and requirements as per Rail Safety and occupational health and safety (OH&S) regulations. This ensures both a secure work environment and compliance during on-site and field operations.

Key Duties

  • Conduct arrival and departure roll-by inspections to verify the integrity of rolling stock.
  • Carry out comprehensive mechanical inspections following Railways of Australia engineering standards.
  • Accurately complete all necessary documentation and certification in a clear, legible manner.
  • Communicate effectively with transport companies and shunting contractors via radio networks during rolling stock marshalling and depot operations.
  • Convey inspection results promptly to operational staff and the Workshop Supervisor.
  • Maintain security of the workshop, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Follow supervisory instructions and carry out assigned tasks diligently.
  • Support repairs and servicing activities for company and client rolling stock.

Candidate Profile

  • Possesses a relevant Trade Qualification or Railway Examiner's Certificate.
  • Available for flexible work schedules, including overtime, shift patterns, and weekends.
  • Demonstrates experience working with rolling stock or railway equipment.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic system maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of workplace health and safety regulations.
