Role Overview
We are seeking a Test Lead to spearhead testing efforts within challenging digital transformation projects based in Darwin, Northern Territory. This role is a 12-month fixed-term contract requiring on-site presence, focusing on ensuring delivery excellence through comprehensive testing leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end testing throughout the project lifecycle, encompassing system, integration, user acceptance, and production verification tests.
- Create and maintain detailed test strategies, planning documents, schedules, and progress reports.
- Guarantee thorough test coverage by analyzing both business and technical requirements.
- Manage test design, execution phases, and oversee defect tracking and resolution processes.
- Coordinate testing efforts among project groups, external vendors, and business stakeholders.
- Continuously monitor testing progress, providing transparent reporting on quality, risks, issues, and readiness status.
- Proactively identify and escalate risks, issues, and dependencies related to testing activities.
- Champion quality assurance frameworks, governance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives in testing practices.
- Facilitate collaboration across business and technical teams to support successful project outcomes.
Candidate Qualifications and Experience
- Proven leadership experience in managing testing for large-scale ICT or digital transformation programs.
- Expertise in devising test strategies, detailed planning, execution, and effective defect management.
- Hands-on experience with multiple testing phases including system, integration, UAT, and production verification testing.
- Familiarity with test and defect management tools such as Jira or equivalent platforms.
- Strong knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies and QA best practices.
- Ability to interpret complex functional and technical requirements to deliver comprehensive test coverage.
- Capability to manage and report on testing risks, challenges, and dependencies to project stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including coordinating with technical and non-technical vendors.
- Tertiary education in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related fields; ISTQB or comparable certification is highly desirable.
- Experience in government or highly regulated sectors will be advantageous.
