Role Summary
The Technology Director serves as a strategic technology leader responsible for Qu Data Centres' multi-year technology roadmap and operational framework. This position oversees three key divisions: Enterprise Architecture, Platform and Security Operations, and Corporate IT. The incumbent will convert business strategy into a cohesive, budgeted program of initiatives, spearheading digital transformation and modernization efforts while upholding strict, metrics-based delivery standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and continually refine the company’s multi-year technology roadmap and operational model, transforming business objectives into a prioritized and costed portfolio encompassing Enterprise Architecture, Platform/Security, and Corporate IT sectors.
- Advocate for digital transformation and enterprise AI integration by analyzing new technologies such as automation, cloud solutions, and networking for strategic alignment and quantifiable business benefits.
- Direct enterprise architecture and data governance initiatives to ensure adoption of target standards and maintain enterprise-wide data integrity and source-of-truth ownership.
- Manage the technology budget including operating and capital expenditures, monitor return on investment, enforce cost controls, and lead technology-related due diligence for potential mergers and acquisitions.
- Establish and nurture strategic vendor and technology partnerships, oversee sourcing strategies, negotiate contracts, and develop investment cases for major projects.
- Implement ITIL as the company's IT service management standard, establish KPIs and SLAs, and promote continual service enhancements to optimize both employee and client experiences across all functional units.
- Provide senior leadership oversight on security strategies, technical risks, and compliance with standards such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, and NIST; serve as the executive contact for escalated incidents.
- Shape the approach to customer-facing technologies including network management and cloud services, acting as a point of escalation for significant service disruptions with the possibility of future role transition.
- Lead, mentor, and develop leaders within the technology department, fostering accountability, career development, and collaborative planning across teams.
- Represent the technology division in interactions with executive leadership, customers, auditors, and regulatory bodies, serving as a trusted authority for priority and resource challenges.
Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrated success in designing, articulating, and implementing multi-year technology roadmaps backed by ROI-based business cases for senior leadership and board stakeholders.
- Minimum of 12 years in advancing technology leadership roles, including at least 5 years managing multiple technology teams or senior managers.
- Extensive expertise in ITIL and IT service management maturity, with practical knowledge in enterprise architecture, security, risk management, and compliance frameworks like ISO 27001, SOC 2, and NIST.
- Proven leadership in digital transformation initiatives, platform modernization, or complex carveout and integration projects within regulated or 24/7 operational environments.
- Strong financial skills encompassing budget stewardship, capital and operational expenditure planning, cost control, and experience with M&A technology due diligence preferred.
- Track record of developing managerial talent, delivering presentations to C-level executives and boards, and enhancing organizational competencies.
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline required; Master’s degree or MBA is advantageous.
- ITIL certification is highly preferred; additional certifications such as TOGAF, CISSP/CISM, PMP, or cloud architecture are desirable.
- Experience in the Data Centre industry is a significant asset.
