Role Overview
We are looking for a meticulous Tax Examiner who can handle tax reviews, audit work, and compliance checks in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations. The position is based in Doha and is intended for local candidates with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform in-depth tax examinations and review financial records for audit purposes.
- Check accounting entries, financial statements, and supporting evidence to confirm regulatory compliance.
- Spot inconsistencies, exposure areas, and possible tax obligations.
- Draft well-organized, professional audit reports that summarize findings and suggest next steps.
- Apply the requirements of Income Tax Law No. (24) of 2018, Excise Tax Law, and the applicable Executive Regulations.
- Communicate with taxpayers and other stakeholders in a professional manner to explain audit points and gather clarifications.
- Work with tax platforms, including electronic systems such as Dhareeba, for assessment and reporting tasks.
- Assist with customs and excise compliance enforcement wherever relevant.
Experience Required
- 3 to 5 years of background in accounting, tax audit, or financial audit roles.
- Experience gained in Big Four firms, tax advisory practices, or government/tax authority environments is preferred, with GCC exposure being an advantage.
- Good command of income tax, excise tax, and related compliance frameworks.
- Exposure to customs procedures, import/export activity, or manufacturing settings dealing with excise goods is desirable.
- Hands-on experience in analyzing financial data and preparing audit documentation.
Educational and Professional Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
- Professional qualifications such as CPA or ACCA are preferred.
- Further training in tax auditing, compliance, or electronic tax systems will be considered an added benefit.
Skills Required
- Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving.
- Excellent report drafting and documentation skills.
- Advanced use of Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
- Effective communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Ability to read, understand, and apply tax legislation in practical audit situations.
Preferred Background
- Prior work in GCC tax authorities or other regulatory bodies is an advantage.
- Experience with indirect taxation, large taxpayer audits, or excise compliance is beneficial.
- Familiarity with government tax systems and audit procedures is preferred.
