The Structures Technician Sub-Amp serves as an expert consultant to AMP Managers and operational and engineering teams, focusing on the operation, maintenance, repair, compliance, sustainment, and renewal of facility mechanical and HVAC assets, aligned with FYDP+3 planning. This role oversees lifecycle management for building structures, envelopes, and internal finishes, supporting the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) at Al Udeid Air Base in Doha, Qatar.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert recommendations to AMP Managers and Operations and Engineering Flights regarding investment strategies for managed systems.
  • Offer technical guidance for Facilities Structure & Finishes Sub-AMP operations.
  • Manage asset lifecycle covering building foundations, structural framing, roofing, walls, windows, doors, interior finishes, flooring, ceilings, and painting.
  • Assist in drafting inspection, maintenance, repair, sustainment, and recapitalization plans ensuring structural soundness, weather resistance, and aesthetic standards while identifying FYDP+3 requirements.
  • Collaborate with Facilities AMP and Sub-AMP teams as necessary.
  • Support pre-design activities for new constructs, renovations, and facility improvements.
  • Adapt and interpret traditional design methods to prepare calculations, layouts, drawings, and specifications meeting project goals and standards.
  • Conduct selected construction inspections, quality assurance, and submittal evaluations beyond usual construction management expertise.
  • Contribute to cost estimation and scheduling efforts.
  • Prepare technical correspondence, reports, contract documents, fact sheets, status updates, and final construction drawings for contractor bidding.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations to promote a safe working environment.
  • Act as Alternate BUILDER database point of contact, managing data accuracy, integrity, and access.
  • Input and verify all necessary entries in the BUILDER database alongside other squadron flights.
  • Inventory and enter Real Property Inventory and Equipment (RPIE) data into BUILDER.
  • Maintain synchronization of BUILDER facility inventory with the Air Force Accountable Property System of Record (APSR), NexGen IT.
  • Ensure singular facility records per Real Property Unique Identifier (RPUID) and comprehensive system inventories for applicable facility types.
  • Track facilities lacking RPUIDs until official assignments from AFCEC, including maintaining current lists of pending assignments.
  • Update detailed facility inventories and component-section assessments, including barcode integration where applicable.
  • Deliver condition assessments for all facility systems.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Equivalent to Air Force 5-level technician or higher, with minimum five years' experience in relevant trade.
  • Completion of AFIT courses WENG 200 (Scoping & Estimating), WENG 440, WMGT 231 (SMS Builder Level 2 Assessor Rights), and WMGT 417 (Activity Management); courses to be completed online or via live broadcast at earliest availability post-hiring.
  • Preferred experience in Repair & Overhaul (R&O) and NexGen systems.
  • High school diploma or equivalent combined with relevant training and experience.
  • Familiarity with project development, contracting, and construction documentation.
  • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite and Project management software.
  • Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Strong teamwork capabilities within diverse, dynamic groups.
  • Excellent problem-solving aptitude and sound judgment.
  • Must qualify for and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance; US citizenship and active US Navy status required for clearance eligibility.
  • Valid driver’s license or international equivalent and US passport mandatory.
  • Prior overseas government contracting experience is advantageous.
