Role Overview

The Steward position is a full-time, on-location role at Donut Factory in Nairobi. Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness throughout the kitchen, production zones, and customer areas by washing utensils, trays, and equipment while ensuring work areas are hygienic and tidy. The Steward provides support to food preparation and service teams by replenishing supplies, disposing of waste properly, and adhering to food safety protocols. Daily duties involve assisting in basic food handling under guidance, keeping floors and surfaces spotless, and quickly addressing spills and cleaning requirements to help smooth store operations. Collaboration with coworkers and supervisors is essential to maintain health and safety standards, fostering a clean and efficient environment for staff and guests.

Qualifications and Skills

• Strong customer service and communication abilities to engage politely with patrons and work effectively within the team.
• Knowledge and skills related to food & beverage service and handling to support safe and efficient product preparation and presentation.
• Willingness and capacity to learn training procedures including compliance with standard operating guidelines and food hygiene standards.
• Basic understanding of hygiene and sanitation protocols, including safe handling of cleaning agents.
• Capability to stand for long durations, perform physical tasks, and thrive in a fast-paced team environment.
• Previous experience in cafes, bakeries, restaurants or comparable food service settings is a plus but not required.
• High school certificate or equivalent educational background preferred along with punctuality and a responsible work ethic.
