Role Overview

The core of our operation is the Response Network, composed of Sonder Responders who offer face-to-face support to members in need, coordinated through our Support Centre. Candidates with backgrounds as current or former workers in related industries are encouraged to apply, enjoying flexible working options alongside on-call duties. This role is primarily for individuals located in or near Whangarei/Northland, New Zealand.

As a Sonder Responder, you will be engaged on a casual contractual basis, participate in a flexible 24-hour on-call schedule, and have the chance to help establish and grow the network in New Zealand. Critical qualities include sound judgement, empathy, responsiveness, and a desire to assist others. You will have the liberty to determine your availability and will receive competitive compensation for both on-call periods and active incident responses.

Additional Responsibilities

• Support the Response Network Manager with stakeholder engagement to facilitate business and operational goals
• Strengthen partnerships, provide engagement, and participate in training activities
• Offer insights to improve operational procedures and network coordination
• Respond to both emergency and non-emergency situations to aid the responder network within your region

Preferred Candidate Profile

We seek experienced professionals from military, law enforcement, mental health, or emergency services backgrounds who demonstrate passion for assisting those in critical situations. Candidates should have confidence in evaluating emergencies and determining or advising appropriate actions, with strong interpersonal sensitivity and empathy.

Key Qualifications and Skills

• Recent or ongoing emergency services, military, or security experience in Australia, with a substantial local network
• High degree of self-awareness, motivation, and capability to manage oneself
• Proven ability to prioritize, address urgent matters decisively, and show interpersonal sensitivity
• Willingness and ability to work a flexible on-call roster
