About the Role and Team

At Uber, interns actively contribute by developing impactful software from day one. You'll engage with a collaborative team of backend, frontend, and mobile engineers, as well as product managers and data scientists, in an environment that encourages ownership and tackles ambitious challenges that affect millions of users worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with your manager and mentor to lead innovative and complex projects from conception through deployment.
• Design, develop, and validate software components using Uber's modern technology stack.
• Propose, implement, and launch features that enhance the user experience for riders, drivers, and merchants.
• Maintain high standards of code quality through best practices including documentation, testing, and monitoring.
• Utilize technical expertise to analyze complex data and resolve engineering challenges.
• Independently manage your workload while working closely with cross-functional teams across global offices.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program (3rd or 4th year) or a Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Must have at least one full semester remaining after the internship concludes.
• Prior exposure to software engineering principles via academic projects, coding challenges, or internships.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages including Go, Python, Java, or C/C++.

• Participation in the 2026 Uber Career Prep Cohort.
• Experience developing scalable systems within fast-paced contexts.
• Dedication to writing clear, maintainable, and reusable code.
• Capability to quickly learn new programming languages and development methodologies.
• Demonstrated leadership or initiative through hackathons or coding competitions.

Compensation and Benefits

For positions based in Sunnyvale, CA, the hourly wage for this internship is $52.00. Interns based in Seattle and San Francisco receive the same hourly rate. Interns in the U.S. also qualify for inclusive health insurance, life and disability coverage, paid time off, and other benefits. Bonuses, equity options, and additional compensation might be available depending on eligibility.

Work Environment
