Role Overview
The Software Engineer II will join the Research and Development team to assist in launching and scaling commonsku's new Enterprise offering. This position involves development of APIs, integrations, and features delivering high value to customers while collaborating cross-functionally within a high-trust environment.
Responsibilities
- Plan, design, and implement clearly defined features for the Enterprise team with guidance from engineering leadership.
- Produce clean, maintainable, and thoroughly tested scalable code embodying high development standards.
- Take ownership of engineering deliverables, proactively suggesting improvements in development, delivery, and maintenance processes.
- Utilize customer empathy and product understanding to influence technical decisions based on data and feedback to build software favored by users.
- Collaborate and mentor team members via code reviews, technical planning, documentation, and paired programming.
Candidate Profile
- At least 3 years of professional software development experience, preferably in SaaS or product-led settings.
- Strong grasp of software engineering principles, system architecture, and API design.
- Proficiency in React, PHP, Python, and relational database management.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and contemporary workflows such as CI/CD, version control, and monitoring tools like New Relic or Datadog.
- Ability to work independently and asynchronously while valuing collaboration and interpersonal connection.
- Experience leveraging AI tools to enhance productivity; familiarity with large language models or generative AI is advantageous.
- A growth mindset with openness to feedback and a history of mentoring junior developers.
Technology Stack
The technology environment includes PHP, Python, and React frameworks, with MySQL (Aurora) on AWS, Snowflake for data warehousing, transitioning PHP code to Symfony framework, and adopting containerized infrastructure with ECS Fargate and Docker. AI innovation is emphasized through integration with OpenAI and generative image APIs.
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting salary range of $100,000 to $115,000 yearly, with new hires typically placed at the midpoint; open discussions on compensation are welcomed.
