Job description

About Tank Payments

Tank Payments combines financial AI and payment solutions tailored for the trillion-dollar logistics industry. Our network is the fastest growing in freight payments, boasting an impressive growth rate exceeding 400% annually over the last three years. By automating the data aggregation, approval, and reconciliation of millions of freight invoices yearly, we have put billions into the hands of trucking companies. Funded by leading Silicon Valley venture capitalists, recognized by industry awards, and trusted by a dedicated clientele, we have passed the product-market fit phase and are actively scaling.

Company Environment

Our compact and skilled team operates from our Austin, TX headquarters. Having founders with over a decade of collaboration including experience at Amazon, our expertise spans from startups and high tech to Wall Street and logistics sectors. We value individuals who have entrepreneurial experience and those aspiring to be future founders.

Candidate Profile

  • Strong enthusiasm for AI, utilizing the most advanced tools in daily work, and committed to leveraging AI in real-world industry applications.
  • At least one year of software development experience, including internships and personal projects.
  • Fundamental knowledge of cloud architectures, web technologies, and current software frameworks.
  • An entrepreneurial attitude enabling success in an early-stage startup culture.
  • Adaptability to new technologies and the evolving needs of the business.
  • Collaborative spirit, curiosity, and willingness to engage closely with cross-functional teams such as product and design.
  • Preferred but not mandatory: experience with our technology stack, fintech exposure, or logistics sector knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate directly with the Co-founder and CTO to contribute across multiple technological areas within the first 90 days.
  • Develop advanced AI model pipelines to support intelligent document handling, optimized payments, risk analysis, and operational infrastructure.
  • Create robust systems that manage the secure and reliable movement of billions in payment transactions among multiple stakeholders.
  • Enhance system reliability to guarantee high availability and fault tolerance, enabling non-stop, mission-critical payment operations.
  • Design real-time fraud detection and prevention strategies to protect payment infrastructure from financial threats.
  • Work on both front-end and back-end components ensuring a smooth, scalable, and responsive user experience.

Technologies Used

While we value full-stack, technology-flexible engineers, our primary stack includes a Python microservices backend deployed serverlessly on AWS (Lambda, DynamoDB, CDK), a React/TypeScript/Next.js/Tailwind front end, and a Flutter mobile application. Our payment processing integrates various providers and banks like Stripe, and we harness multiple AI models for software generation, document processing, and business infrastructure automation.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary complemented by flexible equity plans—directly sharing in the company’s growth benefits.
  • Comprehensive healthcare covering medical, dental, and vision expenses fully paid by the company with options tailored to employee needs.
  • An environment encouraging professional growth through mentorship and opportunities to rapidly expand responsibilities as the company evolves.
  • A vibrant office culture in downtown Austin fostering deeper collaboration, quick problem resolution, and strong team synergy through in-person work.

  • Introductory Call: A brief 30-minute virtual chat to introduce the role and assess mutual fit.
  • General Screen: A 60-minute virtual discussion with a founder focusing on your background, interests, and motivation for working in startups.
  • Technical Screen: A one-hour coding exercise via video conference assessing problem-solving, testing, and debugging skills, coupled with insights on the team and engineering approach.
