Job Overview

The Shipping Supervisor plays a critical role in managing export shipping operations to ensure shipments are processed effectively, delivered on schedule, and adhere to all regulatory requirements. Reporting directly to the Director of Distribution Management, the Supervisor oversees logistics related to exports, liaises with internal departments as well as distributors, and ensures timely order dispatch with full compliance. This position underpins GMG’s promise of operational excellence, punctual deliveries, and high customer satisfaction within the export sales function.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and facilitate daily shipping activities to manage shipping schedules, monitor shipments, and meet export delivery deadlines.
• Ensure accurate preparation of shipping documents in accordance with international trade laws and company standards.
• Update senior management including Director Distribution Management and Senior BDM on shipment statuses, covering production readiness, payment updates, shipping timelines, and SAP invoicing.
• Collaborate with Senior BDM to reconcile distributor statements of account and coordinate with both distributors and internal finance teams to maintain current distributor account records.
• Track inventory levels and partner with the supply chain to confirm product availability ahead of shipment.
• Manage relationships with freight forwarders and logistics providers, negotiate contracts, optimize shipping routes, and secure cost-effective transportation solutions.
• Address and resolve delays or other issues in the shipping workflow to sustain consistent delivery schedules.
• Conduct regular audits on shipping operations to ensure compliance with standards and support resolution of shipping claims or disputes.
• Provide routine reports to management on shipping efficiency, performance metrics, and cost management using SAP ERP tools.
• Contribute to process enhancements aimed at boosting export logistics efficiency and advancing GMG’s international market goals.

Required Expertise and Skills

• In-depth understanding of shipping and logistics, especially export shipment practices and international freight management.
• Proficient in SAP ERP for logistics tracking, inventory management, and recording operational data.
• Comprehensive knowledge of global trade regulations, customs procedures, and export documentation compliance.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to promptly resolve shipping delays and operational challenges.
• Effective negotiation capabilities to attain favorable shipping contracts and rates.
• Excellent communication skills for coordinating effectively with internal teams and external partners.
