Position Overview
The Shift Supervisor at Apparel Group is responsible for guiding and overseeing the day-to-day operations of a team, ensuring that standards for staff, product quality, cleanliness, and customer satisfaction are consistently met during their shifts.
People Leadership
- Promotes a respectful environment for both guests and team members through exemplary conduct
- Responds promptly to any situations requiring attention during shifts
- Provides specific instructions and positive motivation to team members
- Cultivates an enthusiastic atmosphere while encouraging employees to reach set goals
- Handles onboarding and orientation of new hires, and observes their integration
- Updates the Store Manager regarding team member performance, noting both strengths and areas for improvement
- Ensures adequate staffing coverage, stepping into active roles during busy periods to optimize service
Customer Service Excellence
- Embodies and communicates the importance of outstanding guest priority within the store
- Handles customer interactions with friendliness and efficiency
- Resolves guest concerns proactively to leave positive impressions
Operational Oversight
- Upholds and enforces company operating procedures and policies, including those related to cash, meals, breaks, and food safety
- Monitors merchandise presentation and inventory during shifts
- Manages shift cash procedures and records, as well as relevant shift documentation (e.g., waste logs, store walkthroughs, checklists)
- Maintains effective scheduling to ensure smooth operations
- Collaborates with the Store Manager to increase sales and manage transactions
- Communicates issues to higher management as needed
Health & Safety Compliance
- Follows established safe work protocols and ensures staff adherence
- Utilizes personal protective equipment as necessary
- Reports incidents, injuries, unsafe conditions, and policy violations to appropriate management
- Refrains from unsafe operation of equipment
- Documents and reports any workplace accidents, ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements
Cashiering and Equipment Monitoring
- Ensures all store technical equipment is operational
- Verifies cash till balances at shift start for accuracy and sufficient change
- Processes payments (cash, credit card, vouchers, etc.) as necessary
- Issues receipts, refunds, or change to customers accurately
- Maintains a clean and organized checkout area
