Role Overview
As a Shift Engineer, your primary aim is to uphold seamless plant operations by applying contemporary maintenance practices. You will focus on maximising equipment uptime and reliability while ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality products. This role entails providing technical support to the Fulfilment operations, enhancing asset performance and reliability through efficient maintenance and continuous improvement strategies.
You will possess solid knowledge of modern maintenance methodologies and practical experience within a Fulfilment environment. A prompt and effective response to daily operational challenges will be essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the technical support point for plant maintenance, ensuring safe and timely resolution of live equipment issues.
- Implement proactive fault prevention and lead continuous improvement initiatives to meet maintenance performance targets.
- Contribute to the development of the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) program, applying root cause analysis to reactive maintenance tasks to advance towards predictive maintenance practices.
- Conduct root cause analysis for significant engineering disruptions across the facility.
- Support the rectification of health and safety, quality, and continuous improvement action items.
- Utilise reliability-focused tools such as Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
- Coach and assist operators in developing competencies related to plant assets.
- Provide technical assistance for projects and change management activities.
- Ensure operational and maintenance activities align with design specifications and contractual agreements.
- Maintain precise records of completed and ongoing maintenance tasks within the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Adhere to food safety protocols and maintain traceability of engineering interventions.
- Collaborate closely with various departments to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- At least 3 years of practical electrical engineering experience within an FMCG process environment.
- Hold an ONC (or equivalent) qualification with expertise primarily in electrical engineering complemented by mechanical skills.
- Possession of the 17th or 18th Edition electrical certification is preferred.
- Experience with PLC servo drive diagnostics.
- Strong understanding of electrical, electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic control systems.
- Positive mindset towards enhancing plant reliability and driving continuous improvement.
- High level of health and safety awareness.
- Results-oriented approach with a drive for continual personal and process enhancements.
