Senior Manager Data Governance

Role Overview

This position leads and manages the Data Governance function within the organization, ensuring data is reliable, clearly defined, secure, and optimally leveraged to facilitate business decisions, AI initiatives, and compliance with regulations. It serves as the central liaison among business units, IT, BI, Risk, Privacy, and Compliance teams to cultivate and maintain a strong data-driven culture.

The incumbent holds full accountability for the Data Governance program from inception to implementation. This includes designing and rolling out governance frameworks, policies, standards, and operational models that uphold data integrity, quality, security, accessibility, and adherence to laws and industry benchmarks.

The role manages data quality, metadata, master data, stewardship, and governance processes organization-wide. It also spearheads Data Governance projects and strategic plans by coordinating cross-functional participants via the Data Governance Council, handling risks and dependencies, tracking progress, and delivering governance goals aligned with the company's priorities. The position additionally supports the formulation and implementation of data and AI governance strategies to promote innovation, operational excellence, and strategic alignment.

About the Business Unit

The AI & Data Governance team focuses on crafting and applying data governance frameworks and AI strategies to ensure data reliability, security, compliance, and foster innovation and efficiency at Ooredoo. This team also oversees AI projects and proofs of concept, monitors data initiatives, and collaborates across departments to guarantee timely and valuable outcomes.

Required Experience and Skills

• At least 10 years of experience in a comparable Data Governance role.
• Proven expertise in Data Management, Governance, Quality, and Strategy.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Data Governance operating models and best practices.
• Familiarity with data privacy legislation and compliance protocols.
• Understanding of AI governance principles, ethical AI usage, and responsible data handling.

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or Project Management.
