About the Role

Health Innovation West of England, commissioned by the Office for Life Sciences and NHS England, drives programs to accelerate health innovation for better population outcomes and regional economic growth by supporting companies and innovators to scale and attract investment. The Innovation Discovery and Development function engages extensively with health technology companies spanning services, digital solutions, medical technologies, diagnostics, and pharmaceuticals, collaborating with local health and care partners to identify priorities and deliver solutions.

This function fosters partnerships between the NHS and commercial sectors, focusing on commercialization, market access, and real-world validation, accelerating adoption and spread of impactful healthcare solutions within the West of England region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied portfolio of innovations at different pipeline stages, providing comprehensive gap analysis and support plans tailored to innovators' needs.
  • Design and execute personalized support packages aligned with Health Innovation Network’s Universal, Enhanced, and Distinctive offerings.
  • Serve as a liaison between innovators and health and care systems, facilitating knowledge exchange, constructive feedback, and guidance to drive innovation development.
  • Plan and organize diverse events and activities engaging innovators, industry stakeholders, and system colleagues.
  • Collaborate closely with the wider team and system partners to identify critical challenges and priorities within regional health and care pathways, aiding in discovering innovative solutions.
  • Oversee day-to-day line management of staff and manage flexible, time-limited tasks across multidisciplinary colleague teams of varying seniority.

Person Specification

Essential Experience and Knowledge:

  • Extensive experience collaborating with commercial businesses and investors.
  • Substantial background working with NHS commissioning bodies, integrated care boards, social care, higher education institutions, or public health sectors.

Desirable Experience:

  • Knowledge of the adoption and dissemination of innovation across healthcare organizations.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based quality improvement methods and service redesign approaches in health and care contexts.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in healthcare, science, or a relevant discipline, or substantial equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Clinical or healthcare professional experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization capabilities enabling multitasking across projects.
  • Knowledge of CRM systems such as Zoho is advantageous.

This role is based in Bristol and supports agile working, requiring regular travel to the office and other regional or national venues for meetings and events.
