About the Role
This position is focused on strengthening business performance by supporting effective contract administration across projects and locations. The role helps improve value delivery for shareholders and joint venture partners, minimizes leakage, and supports consistent, cost-conscious contracting practices. It may involve supporting one or more Contract Administrators with routine duties and typically covers up to 15 complex and/or non-complex contracts on a project.
Key Responsibilities
The role involves assisting with contract bid preparation, participating in project discussions on construction approach and related issues, and helping execute awarded contracts by ensuring contract terms are followed. It also includes contract closeout and support for contract award documentation.
- Negotiate contract terms and conditions and coordinate technical scopes of work with project controls, legal, project management, construction, engineering, finance/accounting, and clients.
- Lead internal RFP meetings, pre-award discussions, final negotiations, and the drafting and final completion of contract documents.
- Review commercial proposal sections, coordinate technical evaluations, prepare final evaluations, and recommend contract awards to the project team and/or client.
- Handle post-award contract management, including contractor productivity review, schedule monitoring, change management, invoicing, and claims avoidance.
- Complete contract closeout, resolve open contract matters, issue final modifications and invoices, and coordinate contractor performance evaluations.
- Carry out additional assigned duties as needed.
Required Qualifications
- An accredited 4-year degree or global equivalent in a relevant field, plus 5 years of related experience; or, without a degree, a total of 9 years of combined education and directly related experience.
- Ability to communicate clearly with management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
- Technical knowledge needed to perform the job effectively.
- Ability to learn and apply relevant local, state/provincial, and national laws and guidelines.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a time-sensitive manner.
- Must be authorized to work in the country where the position is located.

- Perform contractor resource surveys.
- Build contract risk assessment matrices and contribute to risk reviews.
- Participate in project functional audits.
- Prepare agendas and join project kickoff and alignment meetings.
- Draft Project Contract Procedures.
- Create standard project contract templates.
- Coordinate the issue, distribution, and response tracking of documents sent to contractors.
- Maintain control of Site Instructions.
Preferred Background
- Degree or equivalent experience in Business, Construction Management, or Law.
- Experience in contract management, subcontract administration, or procurement within engineering and construction projects.
- Experience negotiating terms for service, construction, engineering, materials, and equipment installation contracts.
- Strong understanding of contracting principles and legal contract language.
- Broad knowledge of the construction industry and EPFC/CM contracting language.
- Experience managing RFP processes for contractors on heavy industrial construction projects.
- Experience handling contractor pre-qualification processes.
- Experience conducting commercial evaluations, including Q&A and clarification stages with bidders.
- Experience negotiating commercial terms and final contract pricing with bidders.
- Excellent communication ability.
- Ability to understand technical terminology and developments.
- Ability to apply technical procedures and skills.
- Basic knowledge of contract types and terms.
- Ability to understand and implement practices and procedures.
- Ability to evaluate options and generate alternatives.
- Intermediate computer skills, including word processing, email, spreadsheets, and electronic presentations.
- Self-motivated approach, strong organization, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
