Position Overview

Serving as a Self Checkout Attendant at Walmart Canada offers a valuable opportunity to develop expertise in customer service and retail operations. • Assist customers in using self checkout stations smoothly by providing guidance, observing activity, and performing necessary checks. Clearly communicate any required interventions in a polite manner and escalate cash or technical issues to management.
• React appropriately to Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) alerts and log any failures to deactivate items according to prescribed procedures.
• Ensure that Scan & Go devices are properly returned to their storage areas after use.
• Demonstrate flexibility by working various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to meet operational demands.

Challenges of the Role

• Manage workload effectively during overnight shifts by planning to maintain focus and energy.
• Complete high volumes of tasks such as restocking and store recovery accurately under time constraints.
• Perform physically demanding duties, including standing for long durations, bending, lifting items up to 20 lbs regularly, and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
• Carry out repetitive tasks like stocking, zoning, and organizing merchandise with consistent accuracy to uphold store standards.

Compensation

The minimum starting wage for this position is $18.40 per hour.
