Self Checkout Attendant

Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the cleanliness, safety, and organization of the self-checkout area at all times, ensuring it is free from clutter, spills, and any foreign objects.
• Promote Walmart's company initiatives including credit card services, product protection plans, and charitable programs when relevant.
• Assist customers promptly and confidently with the self-checkout process, monitor activities, perform necessary checks, and clearly communicate any interventions in a courteous manner; escalate cash or technical issues to the Customer Service Manager as needed.
• Respond to electronic article surveillance (EAS) alarms following procedure and accurately fill out the Failure to Deactivate log.
• Ensure Scan & Go equipment is properly returned to designated storage after use.
• Be available to work flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet business demands and maintain store operations smoothly.

Challenges in the Role

• Manage high volume tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment, including overnight shifts requiring good energy and focus management.
• Handle physical demands such as standing for long periods, bending, and lifting items up to 20 lbs regularly, occasionally lifting items up to 50 lbs.
• Perform repetitive tasks like stocking, zoning, and organizing products consistently with attention to detail to maintain store standards.

Compensation

The minimum hourly wage for this position starts at $16.15.
