Excelsior Defense, Inc. is currently looking for dedicated Security Officers who demonstrate vigilance and responsibility, committed to maintaining a safe and supportive environment for our Nation's Veterans, their visitors, and staff members at their Athens, Georgia location.

Job Details

Position: Security Officer
Location: Athens, Georgia
Employment Type: Full-time or part-time opportunities available, with 25-32 working hours weekly. Shifts run Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Responsibilities

• Manage access control by operating a personnel identification system, inspecting packages as needed, and supervising controlled entries onto property.
• Conduct regular foot patrols across strategic areas to deter unauthorized activities and ensure a noticeable security presence for the safety of all facility occupants.
• Identify and report safety hazards, suspicious behaviors, and civil disturbances while providing evacuation assistance according to Veterans Affairs protocols.
• Maintain a professional and courteous interaction style to assist visitors and employees, ensuring adherence to site-specific regulations.
• Respond swiftly to alarms, perform health and safety inspections, administer first aid or CPR when required, and coordinate efficiently with emergency services during incidents.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience delivering security services preferably in settings with high responsibility or healthcare environments.
• High school diploma or its equivalent with fluency in written and spoken English.
• Strong adherence to security procedures, excellent observational skills, and ability to produce comprehensive reports.
• Physically capable of performing active patrols and meeting health criteria established by the Veterans Affairs.
• Effective problem-solving abilities, maintaining composure and decision-making capabilities during emergencies.

Preferred Certifications

• Certification in First Aid and CPR.
• Training in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED), or readiness to acquire such certifications after hiring.

Additional Information

• Applicants must pass rigorous drug and background screenings conducted by both Excelsior Defense and the Veterans Affairs. The VA holds the authority to reject candidates based on these evaluations and overall appropriateness for the role.
