About Patna Metro Rail Project
The Patna Metro Rail Project, managed by Patna Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (PMRCL), aims to revolutionize urban transit in Patna, Bihar by constructing a modern Mass Rapid Transit System. Phase 1 includes two main corridors—the Red Line (East–West) and Blue Line (North–South)—with a combination of elevated and underground tracks. The project features broad-gauge rails, 25 kV AC electrification, and cutting-edge CBTC signaling technology, designed to handle over 210,000 daily commuters efficiently. It involves collaboration between prominent national and international partners to ensure adherence to the highest standards of safety, operational reliability, and passenger convenience. The Blue Line priority section is nearing readiness with advanced depots, centralized control systems, and well-equipped stations for safe and accessible transportation.
Role Overview
The Safety Supervisor position is a full-time, on-site role located in Patna. The incumbent will oversee safety protocols throughout construction, operational, and maintenance phases of the metro project. Responsibilities include performing routine safety inspections, monitoring site activities, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, standards, and project policies, and delivering safety training sessions. The supervisor will foster a robust safety culture, identify hazards, suggest corrective measures, document incidents and near-misses, and assist in accident investigations and root cause analyses. Collaboration with engineering, operations, and contractor teams to implement preventive strategies and maintain emergency readiness is essential.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Proven expertise in Health & Safety and Occupational Health applied to large infrastructure or rail projects.
- Solid knowledge in Safety Engineering: risk assessments, hazard identification, and control implementation during construction and operations.
- Experience conducting safety training including orientations, toolbox talks, and refresher courses for diverse site personnel and contractors.
- Competence in accident investigation procedures: incident reporting, root cause determination, and corrective/preventive actions.
- A bachelor's degree or diploma in engineering, safety management, occupational health, or related fields; possession of professional safety certifications such as NEBOSH or IOSH is highly desirable.
- Understanding of metro rail-specific safety protocols, emergency response procedures, and permit-to-work systems.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills, capable of providing clear instructions, preparing reports, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.
